The Frequency Festival is a popular music festival that takes place near Salzburg in Austria. It's an annual musical bash held usually during every August. Also famous by the names of 'FM4 Frequency Festival' or just 'Frequency', this music festival was formerly known as Vienna City Festival. Austria's national radio station " FM4 is the chief associate of Frequency Festival, which is generally associated with the alternative part of mainstream music.
The Frequency Festival is one of the youngest music festivals in world, tracing it start in 2001. The first edition was held at the open air stage of the Arena Wien, one of Vienna's leading concert locations. It was a two day event featuring six artists on each of the two days of the festival. The main highlight of Frequency Festival is the amount of diversity it offers in musical genres. The lineups accumulate acts of various genres such as rock, electronica and hip hop, usually covering great parts of the German and Austrian alternative, indie and guitar pop scenes, but also featuring well-known international top-acts. In 2009 edition of frequency festival, field camping setting was introduces with an idea of the kind of acts they attract to their race track. These camping sites host Bloc Party, Kasabian and The Prodigy. In 2008, another new addition was made to this musical gala.
