Regarded as carnival capital of the World, Rio de Janeiro is home to world's biggest Carnival. The Rio de Janeiro arts carnival is a benchmark event and one of the most interesting artistic celebrations on the planet. Involving a wild 4 day celebration, the Rio carnival fficially starts on Saturday and finishes on Fat Tuesday with the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday after which one is supposed to abstain from all bodily pleasures.
