The Guca Trumpet festival is a three day event and competition organized in Guca, near the city of Cacak, Serbia. Also known as Draga Cevo Assembly, the Guca Trumpet festival involves more than 600,000 people converging on Guca for blowing off their trumpets in the memorable gathering. This exquisite Guca's trumpet celebration takes place annually in early August at Guca, which is a three-hour bus journey from Belgrade.
The Guca Trumpet festival is actually a brass band festival, where orchestras compete, playing three folk tunes each which dancers in national dress dance to. Besides this, a grand party celebrates the trump of Glastonbury and the Burning Man for atmosphere, just with a lot more brass. This frolic event is split into three parts including Friday's opening concert, Saturday night celebrations and Sunday's competition. Friday's concerts, featuring previous winners, each orkestar getting to play three tunes while folk dancers, all kitted out in bright knitting patterns, dance kolos and oros in front of a hyped-up audience. 2010 year will mark the 50th anniversary of thhis trumpet festival. On this grand occassion, an official call has been made to the presidents of Russia and U.S., Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama, and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, to grace the festival with their esteemed presence.
