The Holmenkollen Ski Festival holds recognition as world's oldest notable ski jump competition celebrated till date. Held on annual basis, the Holmenkollen Ski Festival is organized at Holmenkollen town of Oslo in Norway. The most important feature of this festival is the ski jumping tower whose jump has been extended 18 times since the start of this festival in 1892. Presently, the tower extends 60 meters above ground, and 417 metres above sea level.
The festival of Holmenkollen Ski jumping marked its advent from the competition called Husebyrennene, which was held slightly closer to the town centre from 1879 to 1891. From 1892 onwards, this changed into Holmenkollen Ski Festival with more events added over the years. Another attraction of this festival is the Holmenkollen Ski Museum. This epic archietecture is located at the base of the ski jumping tower. The most astonishing fact of Holmenkollen Ski Museum is that it's the oldest ski museum in the world and is still open for general public. The ski jumping competition is held at Holmenkollen ski arena which has hosted competitions since January 1892. Since 1892, thousands of people have flocked to the Holmenkollen Ski Festival every year to witness the epic ski jumping competition. The 1952 Winter Olympics were held at this stunning location, as were a number of national and international ski competitions over the years.
