It is observed every year on the last Sunday of May at Calgary, Canada along the 13 blocks of 4th Street in the Beltline and Mission neighborhoods. This unique street celebration was first organized in 1989 by the 4th Street Business Revitalization Zone. The celebrations during Lilac festival lasts for a whole day and feature numerous entertainment stages. As in other street festivals, the obvious street dancing adds to the spark of Lilac street festival. Other major highlights of lilac celebrations includes craft shows, delectable food joints and entertainment stalls. Another important feature of Lilac festival its free entry.
