The National Winter Ales Festival is an yearly event organized by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The purpose of the event is to showcase the best winter ales including stouts and porters in United Kingdom. It was started in 1997 to give more exposure to these styles of beer as they are often not available during the summer. The National Winter Ales Festival is home to the Champion Winter Beer Of Britain awards.
The festival is generally held during the third week of January month of each year. The main attractions of this festival are the ales and stouts. However there is also a selection of over 200 British and international beers. Wheat Beers from Bavaria, Smoked Beers, Bock Beers, Lambic fruit beers (Kriek, Frambozen, Cassis & Peche), Blonde Ales like Duvel, Trappist Ales and basically any beer that is brewed around Christmas finds a glass at NWAF. Saturday is usually a pirate theme fancy dress.
