Pinkpop Festival is a much awaited rock festival held at Landgraaf in Netherlands. It's observed every year during the Pentecost weekend. Tagged as Netherlands most famous open-air festival and Europe's longest-running uninterrupted outdoor pop festival, the Pinkpop is a three day festivity providing a treat of music and fun with dominance of pink color. It's also referred to be the oldest annual festival in the world by Guinness Book of Records.

The Pinkpop festival traces its origin in the year 1970, when the first festival took place in Geleen (now part of municipality Sittard-Geleen). An intersting fact related to the first edition of Pinkpop festival is that it was held on the Monday following that weekend. Since its start, the journey of 41 years has been simply outstanding for Pinkpop. There have been ups and downs but the beats of pop music played during the pink gala has overshadowed every difficulty. The extent of Pinkpop imapct on Dutch masses can be estimated from the fact that the festival has sold out 20 times, with a capacity of 60.000 attendees per day.In the May 2010, a total of 40 bands performed on three stages of Pinkpop festival. But a later creative interpretation for the name, is a combination of the English word pink and the Dutch word 'pop', which means doll, which is the origin for the logo, a doll in a pink dress. Even the logo of Pinkpop is a combination of the English word pink and the Dutch word 'pop', which means doll -(in a pink dress for Pink-Pop).
