The South Beach Food & Wine Festival is amongst the most awaited events on the calender for food lovers. It is held in Miami, U.S.A during late February every year. The Festival is world-renowned for its ability to attract culinary celebrity. Since the celebrity-driven cable outfit took over the reins of this decadent festival from Food & Wine Magazine, the bash has become more of a "who"s who" of the food world than ever before.
Started in 1997 at FIU's Biscayne Bay Campus, it was earlier known as "Florida Extravaganza" held for one day event. It was renamed to South Beach and then again to South Beach Wine and Food Festival in 2001. The four-day event is one big wet dream for Food Network fanatics. If you want to sip bubbly with the likes of Mario Batali, Jamie Oliver, Emeril Lagasse and Giada De Laurentiis, this is the festival for you. While the festival is a default fund raiser for the hospitality school of Florida International University. This years profiled guests included Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, Tyler Florence, Guy Fieri and Martha Stewarts among many others. The festival also aids Hospitality and Tourism Management's Teaching Restaurant and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center at FIU.
